"Sara is extremely knowledgeable in the field of Neuromuscular Therapy, and her level of both care and consideration are unparalleled.
Being a multi-sport athlete losing a step or two to Father Time, I have had several physical issues that were in need of serious care. I had met Sara in the NYC gym where I worked as a personal trainer. She had done some work on a few of my clients and they had nothing but good things to say about her, so I made an appointment.
Since then, I have had the pleasure of being treated by Sara on numerous occasions, and each time she was able to induce a much needed physical transformation. Her keen assessment, and her attention to detail gave me the confidence that my issues were going to be solved. She has an ease about her that is wonderfully comforting. That ease allowed me to be very relaxed and open to her magical hands.
I have recommended Sara to several friends and colleagues, and will continue to do so!"

"After years of lower back pain and trying numerous fruitless methods to resolve it, I had all but given up on a solution and accepted the problem as part of my daily life. Daily Advil and ice pads were just part of my routine. then a friend made me promise to visit Sara at The Neuromuscular Center... Sara was hopeful and realistic from the first visit, providing me with a clear path to fixing the problem. I followed all her recommendations, made all the adjustments to my daily routines and kept every appointment. It's now three months later and I rarely have to think about my lower back. I can say without hesitation that it is Sara's mix of knowledge and healing intuition that i have to thank for this RELIEF."

"By the way - I went to my GP and had him run all the blood tests (except for the special lab ones). Sure enough, my thyroid was out of whack. My TSH was elevated. Thankfully he's a responsive doctor and he was the one who said it was high. I'm on Armour thyroid and will get tested in a month. Thanks for your caring. It's too bad you have to go to medical school to be a doctor - you're more knowledgeable and smarter than most doctors. You think outside the box, creatively and in complex ways. I will always admire and love you, Sara."

"Before I started seeing Sara Vogeler at the Neuromuscular Center I was a dancer, singer, actress off-off Broadway and performed with small ballet companies. I also taught full time. My coaches believed I could be a top performer and I was being groomed for such a time. However, after an opera performance in 2009 I woke up in extreme pain and was diagnosed with a ruptured disc, spinal stenosis in the cervical and later lumbar region and degenerative disc disease all at age 34. After only a few months to a year, in my case, my conditioned worsened enough to leave me bed bound with daily migraines, back spasms and triggered an immune deficiency that also kept me bed bound with monthly bronchitis outbreaks and sinus infections. After being given no hope to dance again and just narcotics to numb the pain AND physical therapy that most dancers would laugh at, I finally decided to seek out alternatives.
By the time I walked into Sara's center I had lost almost all muscular strength, I was in constant pain despite the narcotics I was prescribed by my neurologist and I had gained weight to boot. I was no longer a dancer and my performance career was over. The depression that ensued was insane. I couldn't even wash the dishes or do the laundry at home. I had become crippled by pain. But after just the first session with Sara, I felt circulation in my body and in my neck where the stenosis first appeared. Then, after about a month or two I was able to throw all my meds away. Unbelievable!
My range of motion in my neck had gone from nada to enough to hold a conversation with someone across the room. The tingling my hands had either started to decrease or fluctuate. My emotional health improved as well. I figured that if I had to pay extra to see this woman each week for a few months just to be functional again then by God I'll do it! It was better than the alternative which was being constantly doped up on pain killers that only numbed but never took away the pain nor increased my energy or mobility like Sara Vogeler was somehow making happen. Because of using Sara as my "pain killer" I eventually got up to only seeing Sara once a month and I am now, in 2012 back in ballet class and pursuing a degree in psychology to work with dancers. I can even wash the dishes and do the laundry again.
I am by no means completely normal. My condition is degenerative. In fact, working with Sara has uncovered genetic abnormalities that my family members have been suffering from for generations that I never would have known about had it not been for Sara's insistence on investigating nutrition and hormone levels. But, I'm finally living my life again. I know as long as I have someone like Sara instead of addictive pain killers, I have a fighting chance to keep it full and healthy. Because someone like Sara cared enough to ask the questions and work with what my body was telling her my life has improved greatly and my condition is manageable without destroying the rest of my body to do it. I have a reason to live, work and give back to others what I have regained in myself .
--Bieje Chapman, Classical Ballet Instructor
"There's a lot to like about being in Sara Vogeler's care. Her massage's are both soothing and energizing, and help to work out the dysfunction (in my case sciatic nerve and rotator cuff problems). But she goes beyond that, suggesting exercises for strength and flexibility and pain relief, plus supplements, ointments and over-the-counter drugs for pain relief and general health. And she does before and after measurements of your standing posture.
Sara also knows the diagnostic codes and therapeutic codes that health insurance companies are looking for, so I'm able to get some money back from my insurance.
But what I like most about Sara is that she doesn't preach a specific treatment style. She's learned a lot about different healing approaches and uses what works. And she tailors the treatment to your specific needs and what you want to do on your own.
Finding someone to give good advice on self treatment (exercises, sitting/standing posture, supplements, etc.) is really important to healing. There's only so much that can get done with a massage one hour per week.
If you want to hear more about my particular situation, read on....
I came to Sara with pain shooting down one leg (mostly in the calf, but also in the hip), making it hard to walk and sit. I had been seeing a chiropractor throughout, who I like, and still see, but the pain was not getting better. I saw some PT's for a few months, and walking became better but sitting got worse, as did the overall pain.
Sara worked with me for a few weeks, suggesting ice packs and DMSO (an ointment to reduce inflammation). She then convinced me to use ibuprofen throughout the day (I generally stay away from pain meds). FYI, I heard from a doctor that taking max dosage of ibuprofen every day is fine, as long as you take a break every 3 weeks for 48 hours to flush out your liver, but do your own research on any meds.
At the same time, I was visiting spine surgeons, a pain management specialist, a myofascial release therapist, and an acupuncturist. An MRI showed I had a disk herniation between L4 and L5. One surgeon recommended surgery, the other said it's up to you, depending on your lifestyle, and that typically the pain reduces, sometimes over months, sometimes over years. I didn't get any relief from these other practitioners, or much good advice, though the acupuncturist gave me some good posture advice.
A month later my pain had reduced to almost nothing. Since then Sara and I continued to keep that pain at bay, and work on my shoulder issue. I've switched to a standing desk at work, which has been great, and I'll keep doing that. I've got an exercise regimen that I generally stick to, and listen to my body better than ever. And I'm able to sit, even in a car, for long periods without too much trouble. I haven't gone back to jogging, but I take long walks, or climb stairs for exercise. I've used ibuprofen for pain maybe a dozen times in the 6 months since then. The ice packs work well, too."

Sara is absolutely wonderful! My first time ever going and certainly not my last. Just a couple nights ago I inquired this back pain, and I was in the city two days later for a volunteer service program. Afterwards, after standing for a couple hours, I realized I couldn't take the pain anymore, and I needed to see someone quick! I looked up on Yelp to see some spots around me and hers was the first one I called. I wasted no time I was in that much pain. She took me right in an hour later and was able to work wonders. I was feeling so relaxed after my visit. I really lucked out finding her. She made me feel so comfortable and made sure I was feeling better before I left. You don't find many like her anymore who actually care about their clientele. I have already scheduled her in the books for next month! I can't wait to take a visit into the city again to see her. She is so worth it! Thanks again Sara for your time and sharing of knowledge on how to better protect my back! See you next month!

Another situation did not work out with a myofascial therapist. I diligently looked for another. After speaking with Sara Vogeler, records were requested and questions asked beyond the specific reason(s) for an appointment. Multiple issues plague my back. From the first visit, it wasn't just my back being dealt with, but me overall. And that's a service not easily attainable. What good fortune it was finding The NeuroMuscular Center! The facility is tranquil, open and it is a one-on-one session. Each session is something I look forward to and learn from. This has been and will be time and money well spent.

Sara is a gifted healer. Period.
The first time I went to her I was in severe sciatic pain. First, she sat & spoke with me for quite some time. Gathering all the details of my problem, & also getting to know me; who I was. A sort of 'snapshot' of my life. What doctor or practitioner do you know that actually spends this time with a new patient? Then, I went on her massage table. I was in such extreme pain, but she began massaging me ... she worked on me for quite a while. By the time I left her building, I was PAIN FREE. To this day, I still can't believe it! Sara integrates all the different modalities she has studied throughout her life. So, you are getting the benefits of not just Feldenkrais, or Alexander technique, (etc.), but a combination of them all. How great is that?
If you are reading this, & have a health issue that needs attention- make an appointment NOW! Seriously, Sara is a kind, compassionate healer. Go and see her.

2 months into NYC's shut-down during the Covid-19 pandemic, I stopped being able to wash my hair, put on t-shirts, write with a pencil, and even walk or lay down on my back, without wincing from the inexplicable pain in my shoulder. Since I couldn't see my regular doctor at the time, my friend suggested I attend one of Sara's classes. While I'm grateful that I did, I have to admit I was skeptical after our first meeting. How could she possibly diagnose my condition with such confidence through a 10-minute Zoom call? Knowing that I needed to address this matter ASAP, but also sensing my hesitation and financial worries, Sara generously offered me a "pandemic deferment rate" and got to business fast! The next day we were doing telemed sessions, during which she would gently walk me through clearly described movements while constantly gauging my pain level and tension. AMAZING that she could see through the tiny screen whenever I stopped breathing!!! Within a couple of weeks, I could sense noticeable improvements.
On June 19th, I started seeing Sara at The Neuromuscular Center (a blissful sanctuary with real chirping birds in the room!). Btw, she keeps it spotlessly clean and religiously follows all necessary precautions: extra face masks, temp checks, sanitizers, gloves, etc. Each week I leave there feeling lifted to a new level by her expert manipulations, laser focus, positivity, encouragement and larger vision. With keen intuition and presence, Sara gently guides me towards health without imposing strict exercise regimes; instead she provides a few basic movements to practice each week, and cultivates my own capacity for mind-body intelligence. (Of course, if you want more structure and killer work-outs, you can always join her numerous online classes each week.) I'm happy to report that I have most of my range of motion back with just 7 hands-on visits. But more importantly, my time with Sara convinces me that I have the power and ability to become even healthier than I ever imagined. I highly recommend her!
