As a child, I loved watching my parents dance at parties, and sometimes swirling with my father around the dining room table. Even to this day, 70 years later, moving my body is the elixir that cures all ills, filling me with joy and excitement!
It was logical to major in dance therapy in college to help others feel good inside. While performing as a modern dancer and choreographer in Europe and the U.S., I also focused on methods that help others move and feel better.
Now, after 50 years as a rehab specialist, trainer, and educator, I have witnessed firsthand the truth of suffering--physical, emotional, and spiritual. As a therapist, I feel called to reduce the pain and anxiety that exists in the world today using my knowledge and skills in strength training, increasing/decreasing heart rate, developmental movement patterning, Neurotraining for balance and coordination, tracking blood sugar to reduce inflammation and dementia, and creating safety with hands-on treatment I call Intelligent Massage®.

I first met Sara through her leadership of a supplementary study group of online Body-Mind Centering® courses taught by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. I thought you highlighted the things Bonnie focused on in class and did a great job leading the study group. I liked how you started with movement-- the starfish focusing on radiating from the navel into the limbs, contrasting with the pattern of overlapping triangles centered around the pancreas connecting head to feet, and tail to hands.
We explored width and the periphery via the solar plexus, contrasting with navel radiation and weight shift through the adrenals. Demonstrating the different initiations for thigh movement from the femur, from the pubic rami, and from the embryological "dragon tail" was very helpful.
I liked how you were observing the students to assist them in initiating from those three pelvic areas. Guiding them and giving feedback helped my observation skills--especially when you pointed out the initiation was not clear in someone. That helped me to be clear in myself. You also added a lot of extra info about research that was interesting, including your own slideshow entitled "Journey through the Pancreas."

Sara K. You will feel released from tension, able to move more easily with improved alignment, and more connected to your deeper self. In an initial consultation, Sara will evaluate your posture standing, and your flexibility while moving, and study lab reports and medical history. Other Offerings:
Breast Thermograms offer non-invasive, non-toxic, computer-generated thermal readings of heat developing in your tissues. On the massage table, Sara may gently break up any adhesions, and lessen your pain as you breathe deeply. She has taught at the School for Body-Mind Centering® in Amherst, at colleges and universities in Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, and New York-- including The Opleiding Moderne Dans, The Pacific College of Health and Science, The College of Health Sciences (the Swedish Institute), The Open Center, and Marymount Manhattan College. She cofound the Body-Mind Centering® Association 36 years ago and was president of the BMCA and ISMETA (the International Somatic Movement and Education Therapy Association.) She serves on the Program Advisory Committee at the Swedish Institute and sees patients at The NeuroMuscular Center, Inc. which she founded in 1990 in NYC.
As an ISMETA-registered Master Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator, a certified advanced Teacher and Practitioner of Body-Mind Centering®, speaker, author, orthopedic exercise specialist, ACE-certified personal trainer over 25 years, a NYS licensed Massage Therapist, a former dancer/choreographer with a B.S. in Dance Therapy from NYU, and Moving for Life:Dance Exercise for Health® Certified Instructor, Sara offers a most unique combination of talents from her rich background, which includes pre-med studies and nutrition.
Sara works with people of all ages and all occupations to break up adhesions, reduce pain, strengthen bones, lengthen muscles and free fascia.
